FootLevelersDid you know that we have 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 muscles, ligaments and tendons in our feet? Feet are the foundations of the entire body. Like any structure, the body’s foundation must be balanced to support the weight above it.

We have three arches in our feet: the medial arch, lateral arch and anterior transverse arch. If one of the arches in the foot collapses, the body will not receive the correct support, in turn putting pressure on the other arches, causing an imbalance in foot. This structural weakness or failure can result in foot, ankle, knee, hip, lower back, neck and shoulder misalignment and eventually pain.

The two most common foot conditions are Pronation and Supination. Pronation is the inward roll of the foot, which leads to inward rotation of ankle, knee and pelvis. Common injuries from pronation are plantar fasciitis and shin splint.Hammer toes and heel spurs are common in people who have Pronation. Supination is the outward roll of the foot. Less than 10% of the population has this condition. It is usually found in people with high arches.

At Mohammadi Chiropractic Clinic, we use custom made orthotics to correct Pronation and Supination. Using the latest technology, we digitally scan your feet and screen for imbalances that contribute to problems in any number of places, like the foot, knees, hip, and low back pain. We order personalized orthotics for our patients to improve their quality of life and reduce their pain. Having custom made orthotics will complement patient adjustments and overall health.
